ABSTRACT
Education on adherence to antihypertensive medication and healthy lifestyle practices is important for supporting hypertension control in the community. This community service activity aimed to improve residents’ knowledge of these practices. The activity was conducted on June 20, 2026, in Kampung Pelangi, Tondonggeu Subdistrict, Kendari City, using a door-to-door approach. A 20-minute educational session was delivered to 15 participants in each household through a lecture supported by leaflets. Knowledge was assessed before and after the session using a 10-item questionnaire with “Yes” or “No” response options; the instrument had not been validity-tested. Descriptively, the number of correct responses increased from 93 out of 150 pretest responses (62%) to 129 out of 150 posttest responses (86%). The mean score increased from 6.2 to 8.6 out of a maximum score of 10, representing an increase of 24 percentage points. These findings indicate an improvement in participants’ knowledge following the educational session. Direct education supported by leaflets may be used to provide information on medication adherence and healthy lifestyle practices.
