ABSTRACT
This community service activity aims to improve elementary school students’ understanding of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an educational and responsible self-directed learning tool. The rapid development of AI technology offers significant potential to support learning processes; however, it also poses risks of misuse, such as copying answers without proper understanding. Therefore, early education is necessary to ensure that students can utilize technology wisely. This activity was conducted at SDN Ngronggo 3 Kediri using a combination of socialization, demonstration, and hands-on practice with simple AI applications. The participants were elementary school students who were introduced to basic AI concepts, examples of its use in learning, and ethical considerations in technology usage. The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of the functions and benefits of AI as a learning aid, as well as increased awareness of responsible technology use. Students also showed high enthusiasm during the practical sessions. Thus, this activity contributes to enhancing digital literacy and promoting self-directed learning among elementary school students.
